Useful information regarding the opening hours:
What new features and changes can you expect at the resort this season?
This season, look forward to exciting new features and improvements at Narvikfjellet! You can enjoy two new lifts and upgraded infrastructure, making the upper part of the resort more accessible and user-friendly. In addition, we are opening a beautiful new easy run, making the mountain even more attractive to a wider range of visitors.
We are also extending opening hours to give you more time on the slopes, while making significant improvements to the existing trail network in the upper part of the resort. All of this is designed to provide an even better skiing experience – no matter your level or skill.
Specific updates this season:
-
New chairlift from the upper gondola station to Linken, new route, opening February 26
-
New upper T-bar lift (replacing old Lift 3), new route, opening January 26
-
New easy run from Fjellheisrestauranten to the lower gondola station, opening January 26
-
Leveling of the top plateau at 650 m
-
Extended opening hours, more hours open, with a focus on daytime skiing
-
Leveling and expansion of Linken slope and the former Tredjebakken/Snaua
Switching from evening-only to full daytime opening, with evening skiing still available
This winter season, we will for the first time focus primarily on daytime operations, with evening skiing available on selected days throughout the season. This is a deliberate choice to meet the needs of an increasing number of visiting guests—both domestic and international—who represent the greatest and most essential growth potential for the resort and the region's tourism industry.
We understand that evening skiing is important for many of our local guests and for skiing in general. That’s why we will continue to offer regular evening opening days throughout the winter. This approach allows us to cater to both our local season pass holders and visiting guests, while also strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of the resort.
We see this as a strategic moment to commercialize our opening hours, in order to capitalize on the significant momentum generated by the upcoming World Championships. Delaying this positioning could mean missing a valuable opportunity to enhance both our brand and guest traffic.
Our key arguments:
-
Increased accessibility for more groups: Daytime operations make the resort more accessible to a wider range of users, such as children and youth groups, school classes, and international tourists.
-
Competitive offering: Visiting guests, especially international ones, expect resorts to be open during the day – strengthening Narvik as an attractive ski destination.
-
Enhanced revenue potential: More and better-adapted opening hours lead to higher visitor numbers and increased revenue across lifts, dining, and retail.
-
Optimal leverage of the World Championships effect: The event attracts a large national and international audience; positioning ourselves now ensures we benefit from the increased demand.
-
Brand building: Early commercialization allows us to profile Narvik as a modern, accessible, and attractive resort.
-
Catering to locals and season pass holders: A clear plan and commercialization strategy allows us to serve regular guests while attracting new ones.
-
Long-term sustainability: Increased revenue provides the basis for investing in resort facilities, slope maintenance, and operations, strengthening both the economy and quality over time. This benefits all user groups.
Reduced evening hours
We understand that dedicated local season pass holders and regular users may be concerned about the reduction in evening skiing from five to three days a week. While the total number of evening hours will be fewer, it is important to emphasize that the resort will have more operating hours than ever before this season. We therefore encourage all user groups to make the most of the resort in new and varied ways.
Lower season pass price
As part of the changes ahead of this season, we aim to make the resort’s facilities more accessible to a wider range of users by significantly reducing the season pass price. For those who feel the attractiveness of the product has decreased due to the changes in opening hours, we hope the new price will provide extra motivation to enjoy the best winter skiing experiences with a personal season pass in hand.
The season pass campaign will take place in November, and prices will be announced during the campaign.
Events affecting opening hours at Narvikfjellet – Season 2025/2026
The winter 2025/2026 season calendar is set, and several events, school holidays, and public holidays will affect regular opening hours. Here is an overview of the deviations you can expect this season. We recommend checking the calendar before your visit to plan your day optimally.
Christmas, December 22 – January 2
10:00–16:30 daily, no evening skiing
Sparebanken Narvik Alpine Cup (SNAC), January
Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday on one weekend in January.
Regular opening hours for general guests, but note that some slopes in the lower part of the resort will be reserved for race activities.
(Possible weekends: January 16–18 or 23–25)
Junior World Championships (JR-WC), March 5–15, 2026
Regular opening hours for general guests, but note that only the Gondola, beginner lifts, Lift 3 (+ Linken Express from March 11) will be available for skiing during the championship. The new easy run from the restaurant, Tredjebakken, the kids’ area, and freeride areas on the skier’s left of the mountain (+ Linken slope from March 11) are the only skiing areas open during the championship.

10:00–16:30 daily, no evening skiing
Children’s World Cup (BWC), April 10–12
Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday on one weekend.
Regular opening hours for general guests, but note that some slopes in the lower part of the resort will be reserved for race activities.
(Alternative dates: March 27–29)
New season start date
You may have noticed that this year’s planned season start is set slightly later than in previous years. This is a deliberate choice to move the opening date closer to Christmas, and there are several good reasons for it. Past experience has shown that we have sometimes been a bit too optimistic when setting the season start. In some years, this has created challenges related to staffing, planning for visiting guests, predictability for our partners, and frustration for local season pass holders.
This year, we also have an additional consideration. A large team is working on the resort’s upgrades, and we want to give them the necessary focus and time to complete the new installations before opening.
This season, we will also be using an upgraded snowmaking system that combines both new and existing equipment. We will take the time to familiarize ourselves thoroughly with the system to maximize capacity and ensure a solid and stable snow cover across the resort.
At the same time, we are closely monitoring weather conditions. Should the autumn and early winter bring particularly cold and dry periods, providing optimal conditions for both snowmaking and natural snow, we may consider opening the resort earlier than planned.
Will all lifts operate every day?
No. Our focus is to ensure that all guests have access to every slope and run in the resort, while operating the lifts in a way that provides the best possible service under sustainable economic conditions.
This means that some lifts, such as Lift 2, will not necessarily run continuously throughout the day when the gondola is operating. Lift operations are adapted based on capacity and demand, so that guests can still enjoy a full skiing experience while keeping operations economically responsible.
In short:
-
Weekends, holidays, and school breaks until Easter: All lifts in operation
-
Weekdays during pre-season: Lift 1, Lift 3, Gondola, and beginner lifts
-
Weekdays during peak season: Lift 1, Lift 3, Gondola, beginner lifts, and chairlift
-
Lift 2: Normally only in use on weekends, holidays, during training/races, or if the gondola must close due to wind
The summer and autumn of 2025
Big things are happening in our mountain! The summer and autumn of 2025 will be a different kind of season – we’re well underway with building a new and improved alpine resort. The project is part of our preparations for the 2029 World Championships, but just as importantly, it's for everyone who will enjoy the mountain both before and after the event.
